Corporate travel from India to Australia has significantly rebounded, according to a report by The Hindu. Nishant Kashikar, Country Manager for Tourism Australia, the tourism promotion arm of the Australian government, said that industry segments including cement, paint, pharma, automobile, insurance, infrastructure, and logistics, among others, actively contributed to the uptick. Tourism Australia is the government of Australia’s arm that promotes tourism.
While other regions are still working to recover from the effects of the crisis, India has become the first worldwide market to return to its level before the crisis. According to Kashikar, the majority of India’s corporate sectors are helping to contribute to this recovery.
According to him, the number of Indians who travelled to Australia increased to 3,75,000 between June 2022 and May 2023, surpassing the 3,67,000 visitors who came the previous year.
Kashikar reports that Herbalife, which has its headquarters in Bengaluru, recently took 2,500 of its workers on a trip to Australia. In addition to Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motor, Mahindra & Mahindra, Berger Paints, and Asian Paints, ICICI Prudential, Maxlife Insurance, Reliance Nippon Life Insurance, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, UltraTech Cement, JSW Cement, Ambuja Cement, Mangalam Cement, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Mahindra & Mahindra were some of the other businesses that were responsible for the rapid recovery.
Kashikar further stated that during the aforementioned period of 12 months, Indian tourists contributed INR 11,000 crore to the economy of Australia. This figure is 16% greater than the income generated by Indian tourists the year before. As a result of this, India moved up one spot to take the fifth spot on Australia’s spend rating, moving up from the sixth spot a year earlier. The most important markets for Australia were located in Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru. Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata were the next most important markets.
